Wed 2025-22-17 (Box Hill Hospital: Day 3)

10:30 AM
I'm up to three testing again to get my car, then to the hospital. She's in a lot of pain today, i think under-slept & feeling miserable. Latest lung and brain scans look stable, awaiting more results (cognitive tests, movement tests)

12:15 PM
She's getting ready to be released into the wild, which she is happy about

I've got my car here, so i will find the roads without any bumps

2:30 PM
Got her back to her apartment

Did a quick grocery shop & popped in at Bunnings

7 PM
Wesley Anne, Northcote trivia (we thought it would be with Sparx but it wasn't, he retired a few weeks ago)

11 PM
Buck Mulligan's: i got Pauly Shore'd by two dudes, 39 and 41. They asked to take a photo with me. We talked movies, body building, and how lazy god must be if he exists

Very interesting uber driver. He is one of those people who doesn't need to sleep much. He dropped me next door to my place which is not uncommon and said wow cool nice place and i said thanks haha

TRIVIA REPORTBACK
Myf arrived characteristically first & found they'd assigned us a 6 pax table directly front & centre. She briefly considered shunting us to one side — but ultimately all was fine to be seated smack bang in the middle of the action

Sparx was not hosting. This news felt initially deflating, like the team had been cajoled to attend under false pretenses. We were left wondering whether Sparx been abruptly fired so close to his retirement. As more personnel arrived it became more about the present moment & less about what might have been: Myf, Shane, Sharon, Annie, Grimsy, Emily

Our team name (adjusted last minute) was, appropriately: Sparx Has Left The Building

The trivia room was pleasantly (or perhaps overly) chilled by the air conditioning. Our host was a young and (i thought) charming, fellow, Casey, whom Myf quickly befriended & did an effortlessly adequate job. He had the room under control, he felt relaxed, and he seemed genuinely embarrassed that the answer sheet decreed that "all sentences must have a verb" when the room thought that was a very odd factoid indeed

We performed strongly in round 1. In round 2, the music round, Grimsy controversially joined the neighbouring team who (it turned out) weren't local and deserved an assist. He lead them to a perfect 16/16 near-victory: tying only with the team he had abandoned (our team)

Heads or tails happened. I made my usual lame-joke gesture of "knockers" and then conformed. Sharon out-played the room heartily

Jugs of beer flowed and were served to us in the traditional pitcher instead of stringing 4 pots together in series as per less orthodox trivia venues (railway hotel)

Overall winners, $60 voucher — redeemable on Wednesdays. The rest of the room didn't seem hostile to our victory which is always a risk when they witness such utter one-sided domination

Afterwards, over the road at Buck Mulligan's i got Pauly Shore'd. But that is a story for another day

Total steps: 8,700
