CRU+ my before work coffee.... & blueberry bagel
.... which they didn't hear me say. I worked out from the bank charge which was only (only) $5.77

Purchased bagel as a takeaway, warned up ~8:45am ..... They were very nice about it, 3 staff

MORNING ROUTINE
Woke up at ~7:02am, after going you bed really early

Midnight snack of Weet-Bix (3) but was out of saltanas & Weet-Bites - so was sugarfree (largely?)

Left the house ~7:45am and arrived at the office 8:15am or a bit before. Travel time: ~ 30 min

8:30 AM
CRU+ is strangely busy. There are even school kids here - the teachers strike was yesterday (thu) ... but i heard schools were open with parents told "keep your kids home if possible"

It's a cool morning - but doesn't feel too bad. I was shower-warm in the car, only in a tshirt

This time next week i'll be in the sky heading to sydney........ not looking forward to it (resigned to the fact that "Embrac3" will just happen & drag me along)

FRIDAY NIGHT
Plan to go meet Rachel tonight and her fiance for her quick gig at Ragtime Tavern, top of high st Preston ~ 6:30-7:30pm ... will try leave work early

Milk & Wine Co., Heathmont Chilli scramble / Turkish eggs 1 PM Olinda Falls, very steep. Dirt roads felt too narrow Olinda bottle shop 2:30 PM Toilet stop in Ranges bar & café 3:30 PM Mitcham quick power nap. Home to Vermont to shower Walk up to Mitcham social. Strak & steak salad. They seem to give us American mustard instead of Hot English, and mushroom sauce instead of pepper. We saw L & C on a date, they sat outside Walked up to Dutch Rules for a martini 7:50 PM Uber home to Vermont Watched this week's Gruen (finally). Pretty good, but no Todd 8:45 PM Bed time ____ On this day: 2025 . Cool & flu-like symptoms. N walked over a care-package to my house. We walked at Mullum Mullum. Newly opened Sub_Urban rooftop for a 250g steak. Foragers. Uber'ed home. Didn't start over because of N's cough.

Tue 2025-12-23 (Box Hill Hospital: Final)

All of a sudden, after ignoring it completely, it is nearly Xmas day.... and i have done 0 to prepare for it I can see that this is day 377 of this daily journal — give or take — because i began on Dec 14, 2024 To re-read that original blog post today has been interesting (probably only to me). I found 2 typos which is a bit annoying, albeit not at all surprising  I expected that last week i would be swanning about like last year — instead of daily hospital hangs. The benefits of not day-drinking have included: fewer calories, less risk of accident, and getting closer to N If they send her home today then i will be in two minds about it / feel conflicted. Because she had 8/10 pain this morning (she described as "manageable") & was waiting for the hour when the nurses were allowed to give her more pain meds (which is Panadol but alternates)  My concern is that chronic pain "management" may be more difficult by herself at home alone where: tempted to ...

Worked in at the red supermarket HQ, quiet, productive Subway for lunch Out to eltham w/ N • Naught Distillery ... cocktail flight @ 7:30 PM • Prosciutto Bros ... nice woodfire pizza, one beer • Slowbeer, Montmorency ... better beers • Foragers ... nice beers NAUGHT DISTILLERY (GIN) They started out with alcohol-free gins, now they do the regular gins too. It's a good looking place inside. The outdoor area is more relaxed & a nice-to-have option in Summer The cocktail tasting flight means you can try 3 small gin cocktails (about ½ size) without breaking the bank Home by about midnight
